Upon arrival at Kigali International Airport, meet your guide and drive through Rwanda’s scenic countryside toward the Uganda border via Cyanika or Katuna.
Enter Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of the most biologically diverse forests in Africa – home to nearly half of the world’s remaining mountain gorillas.
Dinner and overnight at a comfortable midrange lodge near the park.
Start the day with an early breakfast before heading to the park headquarters for a briefing on gorilla trekking etiquette.
Venture into the dense rainforest with your ranger guide in search of a habituated mountain gorilla family.
The trek may last from 2 to 6 hours depending on the gorilla group’s location.
After the exhilarating encounter, return to your lodge for lunch and then transfer to Lake Bunyonyi – Uganda’s most beautiful lake dotted with 29 islands. Enjoy the serene atmosphere and stunning views.
After breakfast, depart Lake Bunyonyi and head to Rwanda via the Cyanika border post.
Enjoy views of the Virunga Mountains as you proceed to Volcanoes National Park, home to golden monkeys, mountain gorillas, and rich volcanic terrain.
Check into your lodge near the park and relax or take an optional visit to the Iby’Iwacu Cultural Village for insight into Rwandan traditions.
After an early breakfast, head to the park headquarters for a golden monkey trekking experience.
These playful, endangered primates are found only in the Virunga Mountains.
The trek is relatively easy and typically lasts 2–3 hours.
After the trek, return to your lodge or opt for optional activities like a hike to the twin lakes (Burera & Ruhondo) or a visit to the Dian Fossey Tomb.
After breakfast, depart Volcanoes National Park and drive back to Kigali.
If time allows, enjoy a brief city tour, including the Kigali Genocide Memorial, local markets, and craft shops.
Later, you’ll be transferred to Kigali International Airport for your onward flight, marking the end of your unforgettable gorilla and golden monkey safari.
