Day 2: Arusha to Tarangire National Park

After breakfast, depart for Tarangire National Park, one of Tanzania’s outstanding wildlife destinations. The park is famous for its ancient baobab trees, beautiful landscapes and large elephant populations, particularly during the dry season.

Enjoy a game drive through the park in search of elephants, giraffes, zebras, wildebeest, buffalo, antelopes and predators such as lions and leopards. The Tarangire River attracts wildlife, especially when water becomes scarce elsewhere.

Your guide will help you explore the park’s different habitats and identify animals and bird species along the way. Enjoy a picnic lunch during your safari before continuing your afternoon wildlife search.

In the evening, transfer to your accommodation near Tarangire National Park for dinner and an overnight stay.

Main activities: Game drives, elephant viewing, birdwatching and photography.

Accommodation: Lodge or tented camp near Tarangire.

Day 3: Tarangire National Park to Serengeti National Park

After breakfast, begin your journey toward the world-famous Serengeti National Park. Travel through the scenic landscapes of the Ngorongoro Conservation Area, enjoying views of rural Tanzania, open plains and traditional Maasai homesteads where visible along the route.

Depending on your selected route and timing, you may have an opportunity to stop at a viewpoint or arrange an optional visit to Olduvai Gorge, subject to opening arrangements and additional fees.

Continue into Serengeti National Park, where the vast grasslands provide habitats for lions, cheetahs, leopards, elephants, giraffes, zebras and numerous other species.

Enjoy game viewing along the way as you approach your camp or lodge. If time allows, take an afternoon game drive before settling in for dinner.

Main activities: Scenic drive, wildlife viewing and entry into Serengeti National Park.

Accommodation: Lodge or tented camp in or near the Serengeti, depending on the selected package.

Day 4: Full-Day Game Drive in Serengeti National Park

Spend a full day exploring the spectacular plains of Serengeti National Park, one of Africa’s most famous wildlife destinations.

After an early breakfast, head out with your experienced safari guide to search for the park’s remarkable wildlife. The Serengeti is known for its large lion populations and opportunities to spot cheetahs and leopards, although sightings can never be guaranteed.

You may also encounter elephants, giraffes, hippos, hyenas, zebras, gazelles and wildebeest. Depending on the season, you may witness part of the Great Wildebeest Migration, when vast herds move across the ecosystem in search of fresh grazing and water.

Enjoy a picnic lunch in a designated area before continuing your afternoon game drive. Your guide will select the best areas to explore based on recent wildlife sightings, road conditions and your interests.

Return to your accommodation in the evening for dinner and relaxation.

Main activities: Full-day game drives, Big Five wildlife searches, photography and birdwatching.

Accommodation: Lodge or tented camp in the Serengeti.

Day 5: Serengeti National Park to Ngorongoro Conservation Area

Enjoy breakfast before embarking on a morning game drive in the Serengeti. This is another opportunity to explore the plains and search for wildlife before leaving the park.

Depending on the route and wildlife activity, you may encounter predators returning from nighttime activity, grazing herbivores and a variety of bird species.

After your game drive, begin the journey toward the Ngorongoro Conservation Area. Enjoy the changing scenery as you leave the Serengeti plains and approach the green highlands surrounding the crater.

Arrive at your lodge or tented camp, where you can relax and prepare for the following day’s Ngorongoro Crater safari.

Main activities: Morning game drive, scenic transfer and crater highlands views.

Accommodation: Lodge or tented camp near the Ngorongoro Crater.

Day 6: Ngorongoro Crater Safari and Transfer to Lake Manyara Area

Rise early for breakfast before descending into the magnificent Ngorongoro Crater for an exciting game drive.

The crater is renowned for its rich wildlife and varied habitats. Search for lions, elephants, buffaloes, zebras, wildebeest, hippos and other animals across its grasslands and wetlands. With luck, you may spot the endangered black rhinoceros.

Your guide will help you explore suitable wildlife-viewing areas while explaining the crater’s unique ecosystem. Enjoy a picnic lunch at a designated location before ascending from the crater.

Later, travel toward the Lake Manyara or Karatu area, depending on your accommodation arrangements. Enjoy dinner and a relaxing overnight stay.

After your game drive, begin the transfer to Arusha or Kilimanjaro International Airport for your onward flight.

For early departures, the Lake Manyara visit may need to be shortened, rescheduled or omitted to allow sufficient transfer time. World Blossom Safaris will tailor the final day to your flight schedule.

Best Time to Book a 7-Day Northern Circuit Classic Safari

Tanzania’s Northern Circuit can be visited throughout the year, but the best time depends on your wildlife interests, preferred accommodation and budget.

June to October: This is generally a popular dry-season period for wildlife viewing. Animals often gather around water sources, and vegetation may be less dense.

January to March: These months can be rewarding for wildlife viewing in the southern Serengeti, with wildebeest calving typically occurring around this period. Exact timing varies with rainfall and grazing conditions.

April to May: The green season can offer beautiful scenery, fewer visitors in some areas and opportunities for photography. Some roads may be challenging, and rain can affect travel.

November to December: Short rains may refresh the landscape, and wildlife movements continue across the ecosystem.

The Great Wildebeest Migration follows rainfall and grazing conditions rather than a fixed calendar. World Blossom Safaris can adjust the Serengeti sector to your travel dates and the most likely location of the herds.
