Detailed 8-Day Uganda Safari Itinerary

Day 1: Arrival in Entebbe and Transfer to Your Hotel

Welcome to Uganda, the Pearl of Africa! Upon arrival at Entebbe International Airport, your World Blossom Safaris representative will welcome you and transfer you to your hotel.

Depending on your arrival time, you can relax at the hotel or enjoy an optional visit to Entebbe town. Your guide will brief you about the upcoming 8-Day Gorilla Trekking, Chimpanzee Tracking and Big Five Experience Tour.

Day 2: Transfer to Murchison Falls National Park

After breakfast, depart for Murchison Falls National Park, one of Uganda’s most spectacular wildlife destinations. Enjoy scenic countryside views and stop at Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary for a guided rhino-tracking experience, subject to availability and the sanctuary’s operating arrangements.

This is an excellent opportunity to see southern white rhinos on foot with a trained ranger. Continue to Murchison Falls National Park and visit the top of the falls, where the Nile River squeezes through a narrow gorge before plunging dramatically below.

The day introduces you to Uganda’s wildlife and landscapes as you begin your Big Five safari adventure.

Day 3: Morning Game Drive and Afternoon Nile Boat Cruise

Rise early for a morning game drive in Murchison Falls National Park. Search for elephants, giraffes, buffaloes, lions, antelopes and other wildlife across the open savannah.

Leopards may also be spotted, although sightings are never guaranteed.

In the afternoon, enjoy a boat cruise along the Victoria Nile toward the base of Murchison Falls. Look out for hippos, Nile crocodiles, elephants along the riverbanks and a variety of bird species.

Day 4: Transfer to Kibale Forest National Park

After breakfast, depart for Kibale Forest National Park, one of East Africa’s best-known destinations for chimpanzee tracking.

Enjoy a scenic drive through rural communities, green countryside and changing landscapes. Upon arrival, check in at your lodge and relax in preparation for the following day’s forest adventure.

Kibale Forest is home to chimpanzees and several other primate species, making it an excellent destination for nature lovers.

Day 5: Chimpanzee Tracking and Transfer to Queen Elizabeth National Park

After an early breakfast, head to the Kibale Forest visitor centre for a briefing by Uganda Wildlife Authority rangers. Enter the forest with your guide to search for wild chimpanzees.

Observe these fascinating primates as they move through the trees, feed, communicate and interact in their natural habitat. Chimpanzee sightings depend on the animals’ movements and forest conditions.

After the activity, continue to Queen Elizabeth National Park, enjoying views of the countryside and the scenic crater-lake region along the way.

Day 6: Game Drive, Kazinga Channel Boat Cruise and Transfer to Bwindi

Start the day with an early morning game drive in Queen Elizabeth National Park. Search for elephants, buffaloes, lions, Uganda kob, warthogs and other savannah wildlife. The park is also home to leopards, although sightings are less predictable.

Continue with a boat cruise on the Kazinga Channel, a natural waterway connecting Lake Edward and Lake George. The channel is famous for its concentrations of hippos, crocodiles, elephants and waterbirds.

After the activities, travel toward Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, home to endangered mountain gorillas. Depending on your chosen gorilla trekking sector and lodge, the journey may take several hours.

Arrive at your lodge and prepare for the following day’s gorilla trekking adventure.

Day 7: Mountain Gorilla Trekking in Bwindi Impenetrable National Park

Today is the highlight of your 8-Day Gorilla Trekking, Chimpanzee Tracking and Big Five Experience Tour.

After an early breakfast, travel to the designated gorilla trekking briefing point. Uganda Wildlife Authority rangers will explain the trekking rules, safety guidelines and responsible gorilla-viewing practices.

Enter the forest with your ranger guides to search for a habituated mountain gorilla family. The trek can take several hours depending on the gorillas’ location, terrain and weather conditions.

Once you find the gorillas, you will normally be allowed up to one hour to observe them, following the applicable wildlife authority regulations. Watch the gorillas feed, rest, groom and interact in their natural habitat.

This is a remarkable wildlife encounter and an opportunity to appreciate the importance of gorilla conservation.

After the trek, return to your lodge to relax and celebrate this unforgettable experience.

Day 8: Return to Entebbe or Kampala

After breakfast, begin your return journey to Entebbe or Kampala, enjoying scenic views of Uganda’s countryside along the way.

Depending on your departure flight time, you may have a stop for lunch or refreshments. If your international flight departs early, an additional night in Entebbe may be necessary.

Your guide will transfer you to Entebbe International Airport for your onward flight, marking the end of your 8-Day Gorilla Trekking, Chimpanzee Tracking and Big Five Experience Tour with World Blossom Safaris.
